I had all of the parts for my pixel bot printed and ready to go. I was still shy a few parts on the electronics, but I wanted to start the build, so got stuck in.
I couldn't find any detailed build instructions online and all my screw holes seemed to be far to small, so I resorted to re-drilling all of the holes. I carted all of my parts out to the shed for assembly. As you can see this worked well and got me through a good part of the build.
I fitted the skids without too much trouble, pleased to find that my new ball-bearings were a much better fit. I slotted the wheels into place and it is around here that I started to find a little trouble. My 3mm screws were not happily fitting through the mounting holes in the servo motor controller boards or the Arduino. I persevered, getting through most of the assembly having parts split or break and thinking that it just didn't seem right. I drew the line at drilling larger holes in the Arduino and called it a night. Going back to the original parts list I discovered my unfortunate mistake. The build required M3 bolts, not 3mm screws, so not only were all my re-drilled plastic parts now not un-usable, I need to go back to Ebay and order another batch of screws, slowing the build down by a week or so. I am still not sure what the M3, M4 etc numbering system is, so if anyone has a good link let me know.
