Finding new ways of talking to my phone

This month I have been spending time finding new ways of talking to my phone. Before you decide that I have lost my marbles I should tell you that I have been looking at doing it with RFID tags and Bluetooth Low Energy Beacons.
A BLE Beacon and some sticky RFID tags

Mark Weiser Ph. D. wrote a seminal piece describing ubiquitous computing as something that can be all around us, using literally hundreds of computers, but without us having to consciously think about using them.

We are not quite there with that concept yet, but these bad boys (right) are helping make the world a whole lot more interactive.

The beacon configuration has turned out to be a little more challenging than I expected, with a lot of the support documentation in Chinese, but the RFID tags were working in moments and I plan on sticking a few up with posters at work to test interaction rates. I will update the blog if I get any interesting findings, but for now it is still a work in progress. I have put together a poster in Paint .Net, I just need to build a nice landing page for my IOT campaign.
