I have previously talked about my interest in real world analytics and my intention to build a people counter. While I impatiently wait for the arrival of the parts that I have ordered I have been working on a very rough enclosure and some of the software.

Here you can see the project box, which is just very roughly cut out and stuck together with hot glue, the intention being to protect bystanders from my wiring and to protect my wring from bystanders. It also helps focus the IR detector forward.
Of course no box is really interesting without hazard stripes, which is why I have liberally slopped paint on top of this one. The holes in the top are just the right size for some obligatory blinky LEDS allowing me to display the system status.
There is a larger space at the side which accommodates the power lead and any other cables I want to run into the box.
I am looking forward to getting the guts of this box filled out in the near future and will keep you posted.
